Our rope courses and team-building programs offer unique activities designed to promote learning through fear-based challenges. The Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) is Virginia's premier opportunity for second, third and senior high school students with disabilities to participate in personalized learning and fun activities through personal, professional, promotional and leadership development activities. Twenty-five Virginia high school students with developmental and other disabilities are selected to receive full scholarships to participate in this leadership development program. The students, who act as delegates from communities across Virginia, take part in a wide range of activities and learning experiences during this summer program held on a university campus.

The ASNC Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a three-year mentoring program developed to prepare members of the ASNC for leadership positions in society and in the field of nuclear cardiology. Modeled after the successful LDP, the new Leadership Development Program for Technologists (TLDP) provides technologists with unique opportunities to develop valuable skills for professional development and participation in the ASNC. The YLA program seeks to develop personal, leadership, and professional development skills in young people with developmental or other disabilities. Students identify a problem, develop a plan to address it, and implement their plan at the community level.

Prizes are awarded to the best in the contest. The Virginia Board of Persons with Disabilities (VBPD) seeks students from across Virginia to serve as delegates to its Youth Leadership Academy (YLA).
